Hi all,

I've taken the biopsy slides from the Hospital and I want to get a 2nd opinion.
The slides were given in an envelope that includes the first pathology report, with the diagnosis and first Gleason score..

I want the 2nd opinion to be non-biased in any way, and therefore don't want the 2nd pathologist to know the first diagnosis...

The problem is that the pathology report includes data that the 2nd one SHOULD receive, I thinks, such as no. of tissue cores, their length, location etc.

What do you suggest? How did you receive the 2nd opinion.

BTW, I'm going to give the slides to the 2nd pathologist by myself in a few days..

Thank you for your support !!

Make a photocopy with the evaluation area covered - someone might accuse you of cutting paper dolls, but then if you've ever asked for any government record under FOI you'll understand.
Most cases the first lab sends the slides to the next lab without your being physically involved. Except for international situations, I can't remember ever hearing of them being passed by hand.

Make copy of your pathology report (for you and other doc) and you could also send them to whatever pathologist you wish(but a local hand off might be safest)... I got possession of my slides just recently, they were 9 yrs. old now, and got to see them under the scope and got a pathologist local guy to take photos...not sure I will have them reviewed for anything, but I could. The world's best appears to be Dr. Bonkhoff in Germany email at:    info@prostapath.de    (google search if interested)- Andrew already mention the best in the U.S., you could probably add Dr. Grignon to that list and few select others. Hope nobodies ego is put under the microscope after this....LOL. Doc would hate being found questioned or trumped by another, is my usual guess on that matter.

If interested send my an email, click on my namesake and I can send you my pathology photos Gleasons 7,8,9's and PNI sample...interesting stuff.  www.yananow.net  has info to see also.
