hi,

my doctor doesn't seem to know why, but i'm about one month post-op (open surgery) and i'm still having severe pain inside - i think it's my bladder. it's not bladder spasms, but just very bad continuous pain... has anyone else experienced the same problem? pain killers don't seem to help at all. did something go wrong with my surgery? i shouldn't be having this kind of pain one month after the surgery, should i? thanks.

Opn,
I started to get pain just right of my midline about three weeks after surgery. It lasted for about a week and one half. Sometimes the pain was so severe that it was hard to walk without pressing on the area. Went away as quickly as it started. Surgeon said it was healing of incision through abdominal wall and abdominal muscle spasm. Hope it is nothing more than that for you.

Surgical hernias and hematomas are a high risk after open surgery. You haven't been doing any lifting or exceeding limitations have you?

no, not at all. i've been mostly resting at home. doctor said the pain was probably because a part of my bladder wasn't healed yet, which he didn't seem to understand why it still hasn't healed yet. my bladder control was getting better but since this severe pain started, i almost have no control left again. my doctor(surgeon) is away at the moment, so i'd have to wait for a week or so to see him. i've tried to talk to other doctors and they all simply said i should not be having this kind of pain, which was not helpful at all.

I'd bet that your surgeon is part of an assocciation and has friends/buddies that can check you out... That or I'd see another URO.
