about a month ago I had tissue removed from my prostate. I have cancer in my prostate but it has not spread to other places. I am a #7 on the Gleason scale. Since my procedure I have experienced constant rectum pain. I was told that it might be a result of bladder spasms. The doctor prescribed 600 mg. of motrin, 3 tablets 3x a day. It helps with the pain but does not alleviate it. It's not a fissure or hemorroids. No one can tell me why I have the pain or how long I might have it. I bought a donut which helps a little when I sit. Can anyone give me some insight to this?  Has anyone else experienced this?

I do not know the cause of your rectal pain, but I do understand, and have experienced it myself after my biopsy, and also after my prostatectomy. It was even painful to sit on a hard chair. However, after a few weeks, it began to ease up. After a couple of months it was completely gone.

Hang in there. Things will improve.

A little over three weeks post open RP and also having some rectal pain. Have noticed more daily activity(driving especially)brings more pain, usually greater in the evenings. Have been taking Advil (800 mg) in the evenings when necessary. Thought maybe I was developing hemorrhoids, but now think it is just residual pain from the pelvic floor where the prostate used to be that just happens to be right on top of the rectum. It has been improving some but seems to be aggravated by sitting and increased daily activity. Will mention to my Uro @ next Thursday's appt. but expect I will be told this is normal in the course of healing from RP. Hope you feel better soon.

Mike, reading your post, I can't figure where you are in the process. You say you had tissue removed from the prostate, not that your prostate was removed. Are you referring to a biopsy or a procedure that opened up the urinary tract thru the prostate or have you had surgery to removed the prostate? Knowing what you had done will provide a much better answer to your question. Give us a short history of your journey so far, ok?

Oh, welcome to the forum, by the way... turn

Are you referring to a biopsy?
I'm confused as to what procedure you had.
