Kudos to the brave women who took a successful fundraising concept for Prostate Cancer - MOVEMBER - and turn it into an event for Cervical Cancer Awareness.
JULYNA
www.thestar.com/article/1011833--remember-movember-well-here-comes-julyna

on another note - once again the pundents that be did not have the balls to report the money raised during the DOING IT FOR DAD fundraiser - to buy a Da Vinci machine for cancer treatment ( not prostate cancer treatment - just cancer) - which is a good thing - but do all cancers have to get lumped together for political correctness? - it's for Dad - it's for his Prostate - get over it and use the P-Word!
I found two main papers did not use the p-word...
www.ottawacitizen.com/Do+it+for+Dad/4972819/story.html

-but one online article - for a radio station - did use the P-word - and Alex Baumann's name - a Canadian Olympic athlete - hoorah for them!
www.1310news.com/news/local/article/242833--alterna-do-it-for-dad-raises-funds-for-new-equipment

-once again - good for the girls - and the boys hide their junk -

Thanks, Bronson, and what a great effort by all involved.  Doing it for Dad sounds like a great idea.

One thing did make me smile, though, in the article that mentioned prostate cancer.  It said,  regarding the DaVinci machine, " It will provide a non-invasive surgical option."

I WISH my DaVinci surgery had been non-invasive.  I think they meant to say "minimally invasive."

My co-workers future son in law started this site a few years back:

Mankind™, a Texas Non Profit Corporation benefiting prostate cancer awareness and research

Mankind's Summer Golf Tournament is right around the corner. The tournament will be held at the Cowboys Golf Club, in Grapevine, TX on Friday, August 26, 2011.

Movember really caught on around here last fall. I know a good number of guys who grew 'staches and it was reported in the media a lot. I didn't join in because I'm already bearded and my wife forbade me from shaving it off   (it was a just month before my surgery and she was pretty stressed). nono

This year I'll be doing it, I haven't been beardless in more than 20 yrs so it should be interesting. Most of my gray is in the beard so maybe it'll make me look younger. scool

Bronson,
I gotta tell you, you spread the word about PCa more than Rush Limbaugh pointing out Democratic dalliances. In Baton Rouge, I was in awe watching you talk with total strangers about getting their PSA checked. I couldn't do it.
You're a whole lot braver than me.

JEFF:
Thanks for the compliment - as I have said before - if I can help just one man beat prostate cancer, then it is all worth it.
- will be donating one of my paintings this fall ( KAST studio tour) to the campaign to build a radiation bunker unit at my local hospital ( CLOSER TO CARE CAMPAIGN - www.closertocare.ca/campaign_team.asp - right now, men and women who have to have RT have to travel 1-1/2-2 hours for treatment.

and for Snowbound - DON'T SHAVE OFF THE BEARD ! - just do some manscaping - maybe turn the 'stache into a handlebar ( my routine) and have mutton chops - and then grow it out for Movember... creativity gets extra points !!

-whatever you choose to do - many thanks - the Canadian Movember site has a bunch of no-'stache pix of famous cartoon characters -
movember.ca/
:-)

-all the best,
hugs,
