Yesterday was my 4 year anniversary of prostate cancer surgery.

I feel so blessed and sincerely wish that my case might bring hope to many who are facing this frightening disease for themselves or for a loved one for the first time.

Hang in there and keep the faith!

Thanks to all my buddies here who have given me faith and hope over the years with their tireless support.

Your friend,

Barry

Yesterday was my 10 week anniversary of prostate cancer surgery.

Although not as long as yours, I also feel blessed.

Barry, congratulations on your anniversary, and continued good health!

I have a question about PCa in general.  Isn't the 5th Anniversary considered cured of  cancer if the PSA comes back continuiously in the "zero club"?

My husband has a ways to go, but I am curious.

All... Thanks for the extra congrats. So nice to hear from each one of you!

Aimzee... Unfortunately PCa is a different beast. There is no solid cancer-free anniversary date like there is with thyroid cancer and others.

I asked my doctor the same question that you asked me, and she said she does not ever pronounce a PCa patient cancer-free. Her father's PCa came back after 20 years, for example.

However, from what I've read on medical sites and seen here on various forums, it is a very rare for a PCa re-occurrence to happen following years of undetectable PSAs.

I also see a lot of good research happening in the PCa world today as well, so I'm hopeful that we'll get extra help if re-occurrence even happens.

From your signature, your husband looks to be in good shape now. Congratulations and best wishes to both of you!

Barry, congratulations. Love to read good news like this. I'm following along behind you, halfway back. Got my two year zero results yesterday. Two more to go and I catch up with you. Except you'll be at six years of zero. If I'd understood this I'd have had that walnut out two years earlier so I could keep pace with you.
