Hi Folks,

I've been using TRIMIX for about six months now with excellant results (after trying all three drugs, a pump, and uretheral suppository; all unsatisfactory). During my last checkup with my urologist he casually mentioned that after 100-150 injections TRIMIX becomes ineffective and to pace myself with that in mind! I was stunned! I've searched publications and the internet for more detail on and confirmation of his statement, but can find no references to any ineffectiveness over time. Are there any long term users on this site that can shed some personal light on the effectiveness of TRIMIX over an extended amount of time? Thanks in advance.

I would also be interested in that information, I get my first TRIMIX injection at my URO's office Thursday Afternoon.

Hey WDF4 and Water Guy,

I had not heard that Trimix becomes ineffective after 100 to 150 injections.  Indeed, on another forum a fellow stated he had used it for seven years.

I am over 150 injections and have not noticed any decrease in the effectiveness of Trimix.  Indeed,  when I started Trimix I was using 4 units and am now at less than 2 units (same strength).  Maybe my clock is ticking; however, there is no indication of that now.

Maybe the doctor was refering to the fact that a vial of Trimix will become ineffective after 3 months (if unrefrigerated)?

RCS,

thanks for the information, I am going to try my first TRIMIX injection on Thursday. Not to get off subject, were you able to go back to oral meds at any time after starting injections? My Uro hopes I can go to Cialis or Viagra after a couple of months on injections.

Hey WDF4,

I've used Trimix for 5 years so am well over 150 injections. It has not lost its effectiveness at all. I stil use about 5 units or a little more if the vial is older.

Hey Water Guy,

Yes, I take (took) low dose Viagra (25 mg) nightly (for penile rehab) from the time the cath was removed .... and when I was doing Trimix.  I now use 5mg of Levitra for rehab.  I switched to Levitra because it gave me less side effects (Viagra gave me runny nose, headache; Cialis a sore back).

Full dose Levitra (20 mg) does work (on a scale of 1 to 10 about a 9); however, again I get a runny nose, etc.; therefore I actually prefer the Trimix.  Once you get the right combination of needle size and injection amount,  the process of injecting becomes less daunting ... and for me it works quicker than Levitra/Viagra.

From the start of penile rehab, I took a full strength Viagra/Levitra/Cialis at least once a month.  This followed Dr. Mulhall's instructions to test and see if the pill would work.  After about a year, I had good luck with the pills.  It seems that things keep improving (after 29 months!) and I am at about 50% with no help.
