I assume my email information is real and seems so, although I do not know the person sending it directly to me. It was stated that Les (Gordy) passed away on 8-4-11 and so it has been awhile and 'we' all apparently had no idea  (correct me if needed on this). I knew his journey was very difficult and not a pretty story with complications that he endured and did not come on the board to vent them  (noted, as a humble person on this forum and did not post all that much either).  He did try especially hard to seek out others in the high risk scenario situations and try to give them some hope and comfort. Which is the greatest gift one can offer when conflicted even with the worst himself.

I asked the emailer if this information was posted on H.W., and was told no and that I could post it....and so I do so.  I did send Les a few email jokes and other things, just like normal good fun that guys would enjoy....I hope his loneliness in fighting this at home was somehow brightened a bit by friendly fun emails that 'we' might have sent him.  I consider him a true warrior and valiant PCa advocate for the sake of others.  If anyone else has things to share about him, now is a good time to do so.

R.I.P.  to our friend and advocate  Les (Gordy)

Bob,
Was Carol the emailer?

This is terrible news. Les and I maintained a good relationship though I had not had an exchange with him in a month or two. His situation was not good.

I do not have an email. But I certainly will miss him.

Thanks, thanks....yes, i will definitely convey to Carol. She's distraught; likewise I am. He was a wonderful man to know. He made a big difference in a very positive manner.

Hey Zufus, thanks for letting us know about Les. His journey was tough and I learned a lot about fighting the good fight from reading his posts and posts about him.

Wishing my best to Carol, his relatives and friends,

I am deeply saddened to read that Les has died.  He had been a member of this forum for many years.  Prostate cancer has cut short another life.

Les was tough and he was real. He had reason to be both - his battle being one of the most difficult. But he was also extremely witty and kind. And he let me in to learn those things about him. I am extremely sorry to learn of his passing. Carol, I know he worried about how you would deal with this but he also said you were stronger than you realized. And you showed him that all the time. My sincerest condolences to you, I know you will miss him immensely.

Hi Guys,

I spoke with Carol (Les's, aka Gordy, wife). She send her regards and wants to thank everyone for their kind words. She's not very internet saavy(strange, huh since Les was quite the opposite) but was very delighted that I informed the forum about Les.

Thanks again.

Keep up the good work here.

Ah bugger it. We have lost a good man and an outstanding and valuable member of this forum. Gordy was here when I first came and I took to his style right off. No nonsense, no self pity, just a real fighter and adviser to us all. He withdrew from the group for a while but I was glad to see him come back. My deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones.

I'm was deeply saddened to hear this news and for the past couple of days I've been trying to formulate a response.

I regret not getting to know Les and reach out to him. I've always felt a certain kinship to him because of our similar beliefs. I've always enjoyed his no-nonsense and direct approach.

I've stayed in the shadows because I feel that there are so many members that are much more knowledgeable than I am. I've been coming here for just about five years (five years ago, almost to the day, I received that dreaded phone call) and perhaps it's time to become more active. I hate this feeling of would'a, could'a, should'a.

I can't say enough how much this site and all you guys mean to me.

My sincere condolences to Les' family, know that there are many people here that will miss him.

Thanks for letting us know.  I am so sad to hear this news.  I too am mostly a lurker on this site, but always respected what Gordy had to say.  I learned of this just through this post, but I was thinking about him over the past week or two.

Prayers will be going out to his family.

So very sorry to hear this news. Les was one of the first to respond to my intial inquiry on this board. I kept up with his posts and he always seemed to keep a calm and studied manner in his disussions of his own or other poster's situations. My sincerest sympathy to his family.

Zufus, thanks for the notice.
