I had the opportunity to meet Joe Frazier on two occasions. He was kind and friendly. One great boxing judge, Lou Tabat (look it up) who died earlier this year from cancer, told me that this era was the greatest ever. Lou and I were good friends and side by side in church every Sunday. He would get very excited when we talked about the Ali-Frazier fights (he never judged them).

A few years ago (Pacquiao Vs. Ledwaba..same card with a De la Hoya fight at the MGM Garden Arena) I was at a fight with a press pass and Joe kinda bumped me and turned around and apologized. I told him it was the best pain I felt that day...

RIP Joe...

I always liked Smokin' Joe, seemed a decent bloke.
I have fond memories of staying up late to watch the Ali/Frazier fights in the seventies, definately the best boxing era.

It was a joke.  If it doesn't translate well, I appologize.

George Forman began a second career over here, by selling his name, and acting as a spokesman for the "George Foreman Grill" an indoor cooking item.  Hence the joke.

Now I would have expected that response if I said that "Muhamad Ali's alibi was shaky", now THAT would have been disrespectful.

Tenpin - joking about someone else's DEATH can easily be considered disrespectful.

Lets just leave it at that..
