Great news Tony
(And you've reminded me that when I first went to the doc and she suggested a PSA test I had actually gone there to get a check-up cos I was worried about my cholesterol as, while there is no PCa in the family there is plenty of heart trouble - so may be I'd better go and get it checked again!)

Terrific news, Tony. Hope to see the same post 5 and 10 years from now...and beyond. Keep doing what you're doing. It must be karma for what you've done for all of us.

Tony,

You are truly an inspiration to us all.  The way that you handled 28 straight months of hormone therapy gives hope for those that have to go down that path.

Glad to here that things are going so good. You provide us all hope.

Btw, my Dr gave me a good tip on something that has made a real difference in helping with my cholesterol. he told me to start taking 1,000 mg of Slo-Niacin daily. This is a dietary supplement that you can get almost anywhere, I get it at Costco for instance. I take two 500 mg tablets at night before going to bed daily. One side effect is that it can cause you to sometimes get flushed feeling sometimes. Regardless, my cholesterol has improved significantly. My last physical in November showed that my total cholesterol has dropped to just one point over the normal range at 201. All my other blood work came in great as well.

Due to the fact that my PSA has continued to rise, one more thing that I started is going to a vegan diet. I know that is a tough one for most people to do, but with all the soy products, vegetables, fruit, grains and nuts, eliminating red meat, etc. I am hoping to slow the growth, which is my only real option at this point, and I just can not stand by and wait for the cancer to grow, I need to do all that I can do to slow things down. I am also adding to my exercise routine, etc. It is kind of like starting all over when I first found out that I had cancer, but now it does not include the option of just if I should have surgery or not, now this is my new way of life.

Tony:

Great news.  You are the poster boy for what can happen with perserverence and a positive attitude!  Congrats - way to go.  Also good to see the posts from the old crowd (don't mean age, but a previous time.)  Best to you all.

TC

I haven't been on the forum too much lately and missed your 5 year post. Congratulations!! I have always appreciated your story and how you work with this forum. We had similar treatments at similar times, and similar results!! I sometimes wish I was only 49, but still feel a young 62. Keep up your good work with this forum and also your good numbers.
