Hey Everyone - it's so nice to hear from everyone!  Life has been busy but I thought it high time I popped back in to see what was going on.  So glad to hear there are many more Brachytherapy alumni now - woot, woot!

All is well in our world right now, oldest son graduated college, youngest in second year of high school and my husband has been moved to the "all clear for a year" routine yearly checkup - lots to celebrate!

For those of you with any questions on Brachytherapy please don't hestitate to post and I'll answer any/everything - I've learned that nothing is off limits in this journey.

Hi Julie:

Glad to get your update and glad that everything is still going great.  As you know, your earlier posts were very helpful to me when I was making my decision to have brachy over three years ago.  Everything is still fine with me as well...PSA still dropping and zero side effects.  And, yes, there are MANY more (generally very happy) brachy patients here now.

Happy New Year,

Tudpock (Jim)

Julie,
Your story has certaintly influenced a lot more paients visiting this board to go the Brachy route.
With a high risk cancer, Brachy has been so far very successful for me too. PSA a consistant 0.1 and no side effects at 3 years.

I completed my IMRT and two sessions of HDR brachytherapy just over a year ago. I certainly would encourage all men upon dx to consider brachytherapy. Glad your husband and all of you are thriving.

Great news for you and your family...nice way to start the new year. I am 2 years out from my BT procedure and feeling great. I was greatly influenced by several of the men here on HW who were helped by you when they were making their decisions. It would appear that the rock you threw in the pond is still making positive ripples. Regards....and Thanks,

Joe

Wow - Happy New Year to all of you!

It is so nice to hear that all of you are doing so well and that more people are at least considering the Brachytherapy option.  Although I (obviously) cannot totally relate to the physical situtation, I can totally relate to the anxiety and decision making trials and tribulations which is why I chose to share our journey (because it is truly a family journey - like it or not).

The one thing I learned here and am truly thankful for (other than the support which goes without saying) is that this forum is totally unbiased - there is no judging, no negativity, just healthy recommendations and suggestions (and of course support) whether you are the individual that was diagnosed or their partner.

You have shown me that even when handed a not-so-nice hand, that there is hope and faith and for that I am truly grateful.

Wishing you all health and happiness in 2012!

JustJulie
