Welcome to the fightback club! The "experts" tell us everything will be fine and your prognosis is 95% good, blah blah. What they don't tell you is the truer picture that comeback from even daVinci RP surgery is more than a 6 month deal.
You have made a significant step by coming here, I wish I had known what I know now, back in Jun 08 when I lay down and fell asleep for 3 hours and had my plumbing rearranged!
Next step check out Dr Mulhall at
Your continence recovery, while slower than many, is not uncommon. I was 2 1/2 months to dry, no pads, about
average. ED is usually the big one (other than getting cancer-free of course) for us and I was told to expect 95% chance of a return to pre-surgery sexual function - without oral drugs! That flies in the face of experience with other patients of my surgeon, all of whom have had a real battle, all of whom were extremely fit and active at diagnosis. And it flies in the face of people on this forum, it's usually a battle unless you take very proactive measures like described on teh video above.
The use of oral drugs was not only expensive but insufficiently effective for me. (One bridge further)
The use of injection therapy (Trimix) was another bridge, and one I said I was too far - "sex is supposed to be spontaneous".
Rehab and being better month by month is the goal, for this kid anyway. Yes the spectre of ED is a bummer but one I won't dwell on or give in to. Trimix will turn your precious little part into a superman part that you can rely on. Although the "partner" may need to understand you have a PHYSICAL condition that requires medication and that it has nothing to do a lack of sexual attraction or libido. In a way it can
open doors - if they are prepared to listen to what is being said and adapt to the situation. Remember many regular ED issues cause problems through a perceived lack of attraction - the way women's minds can work.
your significant other - lots of ways of looking at that but "philosophical" is best if you can straighten out your thinking. Please don't think I am making light of it because I have dealt with a lot over these past 42 months, but I won't be kept down (no pun intended). If you think you have plenty left in you then you are probably right, if you don't then you are also probably right! All the best of courage and determination and God speed.[url][url]
