Hey everybody........3 years ago today I emerged from the operating room at U. of Penn following robotic prostatectomy. Just wanted to check in on what is a special day for me, but also to explain my relative lack of presence here of late. Starting in July, I spent 3 days in the hospital with suspected stroke or TIA. Turned out to be Transient Global Amnesia (TGA)------I won't elaborate here, you can google the condition and get YouTube videos of people exhibiting the behavior I did. Basically, it a short-term, complete loss of short term memory. Scary for eveyone but the patient who isn't aware. Everything is Groundhog day for a period lasting from 2-24 hours. But it's a once in a lifetime event for the most part, requires no further treatment, and is no more indicative of future stoke, etc. than if I hadn't had it.-Then, Hurricane Irene wiped out our finished basement. Still working on that, and our house looks like we just moved in again.----------on 9/30/11, I was laid off from my job with United States Probation due to Congressional cuts in the budget. The State of DE has denied me Unemployment Insurance due to a technicality of me having a business license. I've been appealing, and had my second hearing yesterday. On 10/10, my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. We have been in treatment, and in many consults (I'm sure we can all relate) and she is scheduled for surgery at U. of Penn on 2/2 for a lumpectomy. We lost our beloved cat of 12 years 1 week after the cancer diagnosis when my wife found her dead of a heart attack on the floor. Perfectly healthy up to that point. In some ways, for her, that was worse than the diagnosis!--------and, on 2/8, I am going in for surgery to repair my incisional hernia from the prostatectomy. I've had it for a while, and it really hasn't been bothersome. But the surgeon warned me that I should get it addressed now. That's going to lay me up for a while, so perhaps I'll be able to get on the forum a little more regularly since I won't be doing much of anything else for the first two weeks..........so that's why I've been MIA for a while. Had my hands full, and just couldn't respond to posts like before. I did for a few, where I thought I knew somethiong about
and I've emailed a few of the guys back & forth about
ED drugs, and Steve N Dallas and I have corresponded about
his TRT. I really miss welcoming new guys to the site, so for all of you guys/wives/SO's who are seeing my name for the first time-a retro welcome!-------The good news, we're hanging in there, my spirits are good, and my PSA as of 11/11 is still <0.1. So I'll assume I still am undetectable at 3 years and toast myself!----------That's right, all together now------the drinks are on me!
