Ok I have decided to ask you guys rather than my MD only in the hopes of getting the right answer. I was put on Caverject injections as I am 16 mos post surgery and have yet to achieve an erection worthy of intercoarse. I started on 15cc's and got an erection but not fleeting. I increased the next time to 20cc's and harder, not rock hard but hard enough for intercoarse, for a while anyway then back to "stuffable" as my MD calls it. My question is what should I expect? Rock hard erections that stay or need foreplay to get hard? would anyone mix Viagra with injections?

I really would appreciate your inputs as you all have been so helpful thus far....

Paul,

Those of us who are experimenting with the shots all have the same story.

First, if it were me, I would keep some notes on what each dose accomplished and for how long until you get the magic number. There have been several threads here in the last few weeks about reactions, and more than one about late night trips to the ER.

My minimal Trimix experience started at .10, that did something, but not much, .11 was better, and .13 that held up for 4 hours solid - I was headed out to the ER before it backed off. So finding the right dose is a challenge. And from what my uro says, the side and spot you pick for the shot can make a big difference as well. He is of the very small increases, and ask him first school of thought.

A recent book I read also makes the argument that the first shots break up internal plaque on the tissue that has accumulated from lack of use. His idea is that the same dose can have increasingly good effect as the pipes get cleaned out.

My uro, and a few books I've read, are very against mixing the meds. First, you lose track of which one is actually working, and second, you increase the risk of that trip to the ER.

I expect a few of the guys will chime in shortly.

I'm still waiting to see if I'm a lucky guy who will be a pill responder(18%) or an injector, but that doesn't mean I don't have some ideas. Reading "Saving Your Sex Life" by DR Mulhall, he says to only use viagra or lavitra if you are injecting because cialis has 36-48 hours of residual time. The effectiveness of a PDE5 inhibitor is going to vary with the amount of food eaten before and after taking the pill, how long you have given the PDE5 inhibitor to digest into the blood stream, did you inject 2 hours or 10 hours after taking a pill, etc. In other words, taking a PDE5 inhibitor along with a trimix injection can easily lead to trip to the ER for priapism.

I hope you find something that works for you

Paul: I have one question for you. What is the strength of your caverject is it 20 or 40. There are 2 different strengths of that stuff.

Paul – I’ve never used Caverject; I use Trimix which is a different medicine. Now that I have the right dose for me, I’m getting rock hard erections, but stimulation is needed to get there. And I’m at 60% or better for 30 to 45 minutes. (60% is hard enough for penetration). I’m under strict instructions to never mix Trimix and Viagra (or any pills). I have to wait 18 hours after taking Viagra before injecting; I have to wait 18 hours after injecting before taking Viagra. And I have to wait 24 hours between injections, and no more than 3 per week. Btw, getting the dose right was a deliberately slow process so as to avoid a trip to the ER; it took me around a month and a half to settle on the right dose. Also, according to my ED specialist, Trimix is more effective than Caverject. He says about 60% of men get results with Caverject, whereas 90% get results from Trimix.

Corvetteman, My dosage is 20mcg, Caverject seems to be way different tha Trimix in that I my dosages seem to be higher.
