"It's only a number."
Hey, I know what numbers are. I teach math where numbers are only numbers and letters are only letters and exponential growth is an academic/applied subject.
But we all know that our PSA is MUCH MORE than a number. It will create high anxiety followed my immense joy in many cases or deep disappointment/sadness/anxiety in other cases.
So, I wish folks would not hand me that baloney.
HOWEVER, in terms of a good recipe to try and live a decent life, yes, it is good to think of the PSA as only a number and just move on, enjoy life, love, and family...and move on.
But the PSA is NOT "only a number." Pi is only a number!
There are other terms I don't care for, such as "Cancer Survivor." Hey, you can be a war survivor because the war is over and you are back and alive (but, admittedly, possibly damaged). For the few who have a quick surgery, great pathology, and a few years of undetectables, you may indeed be a cancer survivor. But, that's it.
Then we have "Cancer Warrior." Really? Maybe I missed my draft notice, because I sure didn't volunteer!
I guess that's a start. I invite others to add to the list!
I can think of a few more, but I'll stop here.
