Friends,

I am a 45 year old survivor who had very successful surgery in Irvine, CA with Dr. Ahlering. I have a friend in North Carolina who cannot travel for surgery and we need to get some recommendations for Davinci surgeons in his area who have the right amount of surgery and success under their robot. Any and all comments welcomed. Thank you much.

Michael had his surgery done with Pinehurst Surgical, Dr Greg Griewe, he is very happy with this Dr. Pinehurst, NC is about an hour from Raleigh. There is always Duke or UNC, but they are teaching hospitals so you never know who actually ends up going the surgery. But would be worth looking into. I know when we researched there is a Dr at DUKE who trained at John Hopkins, but very difficult to get with him.

We live in NC, so email if I can help

I had surgery with Dr. Moul at Duke. He is the head of Prostate Center there. But he is not Davinci guy. He is, however, very well respected surgeon. I was given his an me by my Onc Dr at Sloan Kettering.

Dr. Eric Wallen, UNC Chapel Hill.

We just made sure that he would be doing the surgery and not a resident. We were very happy with him.

My Dr at Duke is Judd Moul.  He did my surgery almost 5 years ago.  He only does open surgery but he is an expert at it.  He was in the Army at Walter Reed, retired and came to Duke.  Don't be afraid of the open surgery, it was my easiest surgery yet.  Give his office a call make an appointment and get it over with if surgery is what you want to do.  Their program at Duke uses a multi-diciplinary approach to PC if you don't know what to do.  Really good people there.
