Hello Folks, A very good neighbor needs good thoughts and prayers very much now. His name is Roger and is about 63 yrs old and just recently retired. We met while he was walking his dog past my house about two years ago.  I was dx'd in April of last year with High Risk PCa and we were talking about it. I asked if he ever had a PSA test and he didn't know if he had or not. about a month later he told me went for a PSA test which lead to a biopsy. He told me he also has PCa and also is High Risk, G10 (PSA over 100) unlike me with a PSA of 5 or so.  The scans showed mets and given Cassodex and Lurpron with radiation to the “hot spots”. Long story short, nothing worked and now he is in the hospital fighting for his life.  Truthfully, I'm scared to death due to our similar #’s, but he needs the help now.  I know this isn't a religious site, but prayers and good thoughts are really needed for Roger now. So hoping that my friends here on H/W would just stop for a second or so and think of Roger, my good neighbor. Thanks, bertb   AGE: 60, now 61 PSA: 5.3 up from 3.3 around 18 months earlier DX: 3/11 4 of 12 positive Gleason 10 downgraded to 9 on second look, (big deal) Stage: T1c CT: clear Bone scan: clear Treatment: Lurpron, Casodex + 44 IMRT (started 8/11 ended 10/11) 1st post treatment PSA 11/10/11 0.010 !! 2nd pst treatment PSA 02/21/12 0.008 !!

He has my prayers. Sounds like a very tough situation and it is good that he has your support.

We're on it. And although he has top priority right now, I also worry for you.

You're dealing with a friend in pain and the possibility of losing that friend, and also the fear of seeing PCa rear its head in its ugliest version. Remember to take care of you too, and remind yourself of how fantastically your cancer has responded to treatment.
Age 58

12 of 12 cores positive, 100% involvement

Thanks so very much H/W friends. Roger is resting now and I don't think it will be much longer now. I talked to his wife today about Abby (his dog) which just to happen is the name of our dog. We will take it as our own if she wished. She mentioned about moving out of state to be closed to her family in the east. But not really sure about two dogs with the same name. LOL!! Should be very interesting.
Thanks again...
Bert

Sorry to report that my neighbor Roger passed away early this morning. He was dx'd only a year or so ago. He was a member here on H/W but only posted a few times.  He was a good neighbor, wish I had more like him.

That's very sad news and painful to read.  He's beyond pain, but my thoughts and prayers are for his wife, his family, and those who loved him.  And for you, Bert.
