Just 2 weeks after prostate surgery and finally got the catheter removed. having small amount of blood in urine. second day i got an erection and started heavy bleeding uncontrollabe. Is this normal?  swanzy

The erection is a good sign. Not so sure about the bleeding. What kind of surgery did you have? Robotic? open? You should call your doc or visiting nurse-- Now -- if the bleeding is heavy and continuous.
Age 66
-DX March 2002 - PSA 9.0, needle biopsy PCa in both hemispheres
-RP April 2002. Pathology PT3B N0 MX Gleason=7 (3+4), seminal vesicle involvement. No lymph node involvement.
-Post-surgery PSA low of 0.01; slow rise to 0.4 (August 2009).
-SRT Jan/Feb 2010. Enlarged lymph node near prostate bed found and targeted. Casodex 3 months during SRT
-PSA 0.00 for 2 years
-PSA 0.01 April 2012

Call your surgeon or his 24-hour service immediately. What is really "heavy" bleeding and what is just very vivid diluted blood are hard to be evaluated by us non-doctor types. This sort of issue (You have something happening that you don't understand / are not prepared for) is why doctors have on-call services. Politely I will tell you to get on the phone now.

I second 142's comments. This is precisely the kind of thing that is NOT amenable to advice on a bulletin board.

It is not unusual for bleeding to occur. I had some bleeding that came on suddenly about 6 weeks after surgery. I called the doctor. But it was not heavy or severe.

Thanks guys, still some blood in urine, seems to be getting lighter in color, had robotic surgery. Its been 15 days since operation feelin great. I'll call the doc in AM swamzy
