Paul, interesting and helpful post, thank you!
You reminded me it that "E" was one of the things we took for quite awhile and then, as I recall, further studies indicated it might actually be harmful. Pffft! It was gone.
Thank God similar reseach hasn't been done on rum. At least when mixed with fresh lime and coke. I am a huge believer in the efficacy of this natural sugar cane supplement. This evening I have taken a double dose, what with it being a day of the week that ends with 'day.' While this regimen did not keep me from getting PCa in the first place --- I confess when I was younger I missed many days --- a stricter adherence to sousing in accordance with protocol, which I have followed since my Dx, has proven results: my PSA three years after evisceration remains undetectable! Others have had good results with POM, which, granted, has (as Paul noted) some better evidence of success with PSA than rum --- but I put this down to the aggressive marketing of the POM lobby compared to the laid back 'island efforts' of the Caribbean distillers. I mean no disrespect to those of the Caribbean persuasion. My wife's passport lists "Bridgetown Barbados" as her birthplace and if 46 years of wedded bliss have taught me nothing else it is to be respectful of those who identify as island people --- especially those who identify as island women.
Sorry --- gotta go, my glass is getting low ....
