I saw Dr. Hussein at Umich yesterday.
As I've reported, my PSA is rising sharply and I am also having severe GI issues.
Her suggestion is to get another PSA at the end of October. Unless I get a very pleasant surprise (I have had 2 of those), she wants to do scans. If something shows up on the scans, I should do HT. If not, she says we need to have a long conversation about the pros and cons.
She is more conservative than Drs. Scholz/Lam, I think.
Anyway, the original plan by Dr. Lam was to retest at the end of October, so I guess that is in agreement. I have been on avodart and she thinks I should not be on avodart, so we have a divergence of opinion there (although I should check with Dr. Lam again).
She does not believe the GU issues are related to PC. They may well be related to my gall bladder surgery (in February I had my gb out and it was necrotic/gangrenous -- I had a great recovery but starting August 1st I have had serious GI issues).
So, I kind of have a little reprieve. I am sure HT is inevitable, but not this month!
