Just diagnosed friend  in central valley (Sacramento/Stockton) looks like he will need advanced treatment.  I don't remember, who are the best people at Stanford or UCSF maybe even Davis or where ever who he should consult?
PSA July 2006 4.7 , Nodule found during DRE
biopsy 10/06- very agressive gleason 4+4=8 identified

Peter Carroll, head of urology at UCSF is very highly recommended and I had a great experience with him personally doing my RP. His department publishes a lot of PC research. Mack Roach also at UCSF is considered one of the top radiologists in the bay area. john Lee at CPMC in SF also comes recommended.

If he needs avdanced treatments he should consult with Dr Scholtz or Dr Lam in Marina Del Rey. Any treatments could be done locally. Dr Roach and Dr Carrol are very good doctors, but for advanced cancers medical oncologists specializing in PC are the way to go.

Eric Small at UCSF or Primo Lara at UCDavis are other names I hear around Sacramento.

I am currently being treated at UCSF.....it is truly a center of excellence....call Urology @ 415-353-7171, they will route you to the proper MD depending on your stage.....one caution the wait times are long, but the docs will spend all the time necessary to treat.
