I have a neighbor two houses down that had seeds 5 years ago. I have a neighbor 5 houses away who had surgery 7 years ago. A dear friend 3 houses down from him has been fighting this over 15 years. The guy accross the street from him had his surgery last year.
My neighbor across the street's dad, who lives a block away from my dad on the other side of town had surgery some years ago.
In this small town of 1500 people another friend was ending his radiation as I had surgery. Last year a man I miss dearly finally succumbed to complications from it. And two years before that, a man I ate breakfast with at the cafe every Saturday died from it. A man I eat breakfast with every day, his dad had surgery 10 years ago.
My pastor's dad had surgery a year ago.
Yes, there are more of us than we will ever know. Sad thing is, there are more of us than there should be. We must not quit working to find a way to stop it.
The even sadder thing is that since I wrote this I have edited it three times, adding people I forgot.
