I feel the need to vent.
I work in a crap.hole. My daughter refuses to ride in the little truck I drive to work and she calls it the stink mobile. Daily I am subjected to dioxin, acid, caustic, a host of liquors, high pressure steam, turpentine, N.C.G's and T.R.S. gasses and a host of other toxins. I found out yesterday a co-worker was diagnosed with Pca. He is retiring. Lucky S.O.B. Gleason 6, 4 cores positive, 20% . The dude is retiring. I am stage frickin 4. Gleason 7 with multiple Mets and I am stuck here. It just sucks. Oh well. I wonder if I have any rich distant relatives who have me in their will. Todd

Todd, I will gladly trade you my Stage 4 Gleason 9 for your stage 4 G7 but you would have to throw any retirement assets along with the package so one of us could retire a little earlier. Too bad we can be channelling our energy into vacations, outings, adventures and not our entire focus on our treatments and trying to beat the odds.

Hang in there. We should coordinate a day and time when we all go outside and scream I hate Prostate Cancer.

Have a good weekend.

Todd,

I have numbers on this weekend's Powerball and Mega Millions, if I win, will donate one million to you so you can retire. I always keep my word.

While the odds are astronomical, I honestly would pay off.

David I know you would. Thank you. I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I wasn't working though. The truth is I could get a social security disability retirement tomorrow and live on the governments dime. Most likely I will work until I no longer can. Kudos to you David. I hope you win just for you and yours. I wish I could win it but I never buy a ticket. Regards, Todd

Been on SSD for over 1 1/2 years, hate being on it, but thankful I have it. I put 42 years of work into Social Security, so I feel I earned it. But I would dump it in a second if I still had the physical ability to work. Me being cut off at the peak of my career has done more to damage my mind then any of the physical horrors I have endured in my twisted PC journey. For 4 1/2 years now, I have been cut off from the only business world I knew and loved. I now longer feel relevant in many ways. Yes, got my family, yes have friends, etc, but not the same. Use to be somebody, making big high dollar decisions every day, managing groups of people, etc, but its all gone. One day, I was making a contribution, and then blam, its all over with.

It's not even really the loss of the money that bothers me, its me not being able to do what I loved doing. But it is what it is. Still alive, still kicking. One has to be careful for what they ask for.

p.s. I know the odds suck, but if you don't play, you can't win. I will probably never win the big money, but each number has an equal chance to win. with no numbers, no chance.

I know but I just never do it. I was never meant to have a lot of money. I don't know what I would do..with it anyway. I am sure I would figure. It out

Vent as often as needed. ;)

It's time for the annual performance reviews at my office. One of the things we have to do is to update our long term career goals. I've been wondering what effect putting, "Retire early" on the list would have...

Todd -

Everyone alive has a "job" and a "purpose." For some people they are the same, for others they are not.

For you, your "job" is just to get you what you and your loved ones need to meet the physical demands of this world. Your PURPOSE is to be a shining example to so many others of what courage, determination, perseverance and dedication can be in the fight against prostate cancer.

Albert Einstein's first "job" was as a patent clerk in the Swiss patent office. His "purpose" was to change the world with his magnificent discoveries in physics.

The next time your "job" starts to get you down, just remember that your PURPOSE is to change so many lives for the better by showing the world what you have done and are doing in the war against the beast.

Remember that you have a PURPOSE and you do it extremely well.

Man, you guys are making me feel guilty about feeling bad this morning for dealing with a painful hemmohroid 1/3 of the way through my SRT. Maybe the guys just getting a biopsy will feel sorry for me.
Best of everything, to everyone. We're all in a different wagon but the same train.

If you look at the stats, advanced prostate cancer is bad for your longevity, but not as bad as retirement. Statistically speaking, men retire, sit around for a few years and fall over dead.

I am sure we all hope to be exceptions -- to all of the above -- and lots of guys here have survived retirement for years. But it's something to keep in mind when you find yourself envying your coworkers escape.

Another caveat is to be hit by a meteor which has about the same odds as a winning ticket. So the bad comes with the good I guess. A lesson for me is that I cant really empathize with those in distress unless I have been through it also. I dont think I could handle being giddy fine day after day. It just might be too boring?

Todd,

My brother is 13 years older than me (60) and was diagnosed 6 months ago. G6, 2 cores, barely growing from biopsy to biopsy. I am so happy for him but sometimes I get a bit jealous.

Ok, on this lottery thingy..I'm going to buy 1 ticket. I'll split the winnings with whomever gives me a number 1 - 59 and a reason why.

so there was this guy named Joe that wanted to win the lottery. He decided that if he prayed every morning, God would cause him to win.

Then every morning for 6 six months, Joe went out into his back yard, faced the rising sun and said, "Dear God please let me win the lottery today."

One foggy morning as Joe finished his prayer, the clouds parted a little and a beam of bright sun light engulfed and a deep voice from the heavens said, "Joe, meet me half way on this. Buy a ticket."

I am now going to my workshop.
bye.

I'll take 13 Jerry. It's seldom viewed as a lucky number but I'm thinking that a fortunate guy like me has the power to turn that curse around.

I got my SSA card at age 14 so I could mow the lawns as an official groundskeeper at an old folks home. 44 years later I've still got the same job, different lawn though. Lucky for me I really enjoy cutting grass. This year's vegetable garden was the best ever, corn stalks 10' tall and creamy white russet potatoes that made my older sister and Mom happy at our annual Thanksgiving get together. Too bad I can't send Pics, there were 4 generations present and a good time was had by all. I baked the apple pies (my specialty) and my wife carved the Turkey and ham . . . her specialty.

Dx'ed age 52 PSA 511 Gleason 9 Bilateral biopsy, 6 cores each half, all positive
Current condition age 58 PSA 2.5 and still on HT (Lupron) only.
Life would be perfect without these darn hot flashes, lol
