In another thread I wrote:
"I've often wondered why there are no online reviews for docs. If we want to buy a tool, or see a movie , or visit a restaurant, or get a hotel room, there are hundreds/thousands of reviews.
But if we want to get patient comments about
a doc it is virtually impossible. Why is that? Are patients not qualified to state whether they thought they were treated respectfully or if the office was always crowded, or dirty, or how long the doc spent with them? Are patients not capable of rating the office staff? Were they polite or rude? Was it easy to call the office and reach someone?
When the doc performs the DRE does he treat you respectfully and give you enough towels to clean up or is he a slob?
These are all things patients can clearly rate.
The outcome however is a different issue. Everyone is different. I can understand that.
But I still think it would be useful to society to have a "Yelp" or "Angie's list" for docs.
How much would you have paid for that service?
Hey, Software guys!!! Are you reading this?
Well, Some kind individual (Startech) sent me these three links:www.vitals.com/www.ratemds.com/www.healthgrades.com/
I looked at the first one and it is just what I wanted. But there are too few reviews and none were negative. That makes me a little suspect. If we want to make those sites meaningful we all need to take a few minutes to rate our own docs.
Like writing a "Yelp" review, you don't do it for yourself. You do it to help the next guy and to help the reviewed party learn how they can improve their service.
Take a look at the sites and see which one is more useful. Extra points if you review your own doc while you are searching. I will do mine.
