Wife and I, 2 of my kids, and eldest's son's in-laws all went to see our grandkids yearly musical production at Furman University in Greenville. What a packed house. Everything student in this magnet elementary school was involved.
The theme this years was two fold: getting along is a community project & why bullies bully.
During the evening, the kids sang a song that really caught my ears and heart, wish I was clever enough to remember the entire thing, but the repeated stanza says enough for all of us;
"Don't laugh at me
Don't call me names
Don't get your pleasure from my pain"
What does this have to do about PC? Nothing. What does it have to do with HW PC? Everything. Myself included in this statement. There is a lot of pain here at HW PC. Some of us are dealing with physical pain. Some of us deal with mental pain. Some of us deal with emotional pain. Some of us deal with pain in other manifestations, i.e., broken hearts, fear, worry, etc. Some are dealing with several types of pain at the same time. We don't walk in another's shoes, so we really don't know.
Kids can often be wiser than the adults. If we see something we don't agree with here, we simply don't have to post a negative response. If someone shoots a cheap shot at you, turn the other cheek, by doing so, they become weaker, not stronger. By posting a kind or encouraging word to another brother or sister here, you might find out it was the only kindness they felt that entire day.
So important to me, that HW PC (and all the HW communities) never lose touch of it's prime mission, to offer patient to patient support. Let's never be guilty of taking pleasure from another's pain.
