I've been following your thread and you've got some good guys giving you some advice. I just wanted to jump in on th HT.
It really does suck! That being said, I don't seem to mind it too much. ( I don't know what that says about
me). Don't get me wrong, it really sucks. Loss of sex drive, really sucks. But it just means things get scheduled more than they used to. There isn't any spontaneous stuff any more... That sucks. So far things still work. We aren't as active as wee used to be, mainly because I'm not pawing at her all the time. Lol.
As for the hot flashes, they were there about
a month after I started but diminished to all most nothing.
I had a lot of information when my bcr happened. I went to my first rad onc visit with the intension of demanding Ht. I had no idea how aggressively he would treat me. When I did meet him the first time he was encouraged I didn't want to take this lying down. To date I don't have a determined time to stop ht. That first day we talked about
2 years vs 3 vs 18 months but I wanted to see how I could handle it. Since then we've talked and I wanted the right to negotiate how long. Things are changing so fast that I want my options left
open. I want to be able to turn on a dime. Or I'll do the three year sentence.
The radiation (SRT) was problem free for me also (so far). I worked out through the entire process and fatigue was really a non issue. Worse part was traffic and parking.
I had no other symptoms.
You are getting lots of great research information. That really helps you understand what you might expect. Don't assume you'll be on the bad side of the "side effects". Keep the positive attitude.
Good luck with the decision making.
