When I scheduled my first biopsy the paperwork said my doctor would do an ultrasound and based on what he found
do a biopsy. For the other three I seem to recall that what I scheduled was an ultrasound guided biopsy and there was nothing tentative about
the biopsy. So here's my question:
Has anybody here scheduled that first ultrasound and tentative biopsy and then just gotten the ultrasound? That is, the doctor pokes the transceiver up your butt, pokes around for a bit and says "that looks fine" and doesn't do the biopsy?
Or is it, as I suspect, that the plan is to do the biopsy all along but that in order for the insurance to pay for it the doctor needs the ultrasound diagnosis code and he has to pretend that he hasn't already made up his mind on the biopsy based on your PSA.
So, did anybody's doctor skip the biopsy opportunity because the ultrasound looked so good?
