Curiet:

I am presently on Zometa.

As you may know, it is not an injection (shot) but an implant in the belly fat.

My understanding is that it is the same chemical as Lupron but a different delivery system.

HUGE needle, but painless as they deaden the site first.

Side effects the same as Lupron.

Hopes that helps,

Don

Don, I thought Zometa was an infusion in the arm and takes about 15-20 minutes to administer. Also thought it was different than HT in that it was for strengthening the bones. I am supposed to have it but have put it off until returning from vacation.

Curiet if you look in the top right hand corner you can type in zometa in the search panel and it will show you past posts regarding zometa.

Sorry guys - I goofed

Yes, Zometa is an IV infusion for the bones. I had it confused with Zoladex.

I am on both. So far, no noticeable side effects from the Zpmeta infusion.

Sorry to hear that Cureit. I have mets myself to the spine and ribs. My Gleason Score is 8 and casodex and Eligard just brought my psa down from 27 to 1.4 in about a month. I am sure it is hard on family members, but I am pretty sure that your Father appreciates your support.

Zometa.....zolodronic acid, basically repairs the damage done to bones by cancerous activity therein. It takes about 20 mins but ive been told its less impactual on the liver the slower it is administered. We get six treatments (one per month) and then six months off here in the uk.My onco tells me it has a half life of twelve years ? I found that it relieved the aches and pains in my body.I found that i had a clamy mouth after treatment and felt a little groggy the next day.I eradicated this by drinking approx 2 litres of water prior to treatment. If you need any dental work then get this before hand as some cases of jawbone death osteocrenocis have been reported if extractions are done after treatment.
psa on dx 144, gleason 4+3 7 12 biopsie cores cancerous
T3a N2 M1.
starting estrogenic drugs with blood thinners on 28/8/2013
bad experience with firmagon psa increase from 71 /over 700 in 8 weeks.
