Hello Everyone! Well I haven't posted here since a year ago when it was 9 years after my w/o Radical w/ was done at Johns Hopkins w/o the new (at the time) Da Vinci method and instead I chose an old school hand job as the debate was raging on which was better!! I'm happy to say I'm still at 0 PSA which is checked every 6mo. I spent a lot of time on this Forum way back when I was new to the game and since I was helped so much here back then, I feel obligated to return yearly to post about myself and my history w/ PC.

Although my cancer has yet to rear it's ugly head again (I thank God everyday!) things haven't been all cookies & cream in my life. about 7~8 years ago I developed hypogonadizm w/ while undiagnosed nearly ruined my marriage and sent me off the deep end! Luckily I was finally diagnosed after 2 & 1/2 years of hell. Then I found that at that time there were no Dr's around that would treat someone w/ a history of PC for low testosterone! It took me months to finally find one who agreed that my quality of life was more important than worrying that my PC would return w/ treatment. I hear that this has changed now!! Now after all these years I'm still getting a shot of testosterone every 3 weeks from my wife to instead of going to my Dr's office to save some $.

As far as the rest of my PC related health. I still wet my bed a couple times a week and get up to pee every hour and a half like clockwork! My Uro doc says my problems stem from my bad lumbar spinal problems and nerve damage and not from anything related to my surgery? I just had a left hip replacement 3 weeks ago which I'd been putting off for at least 10 years! I decided to have it done to help w/ my back pain which is much worse than the hip pain. Hopefully after recouping from this hip problem, my back will not be so bad, at least that's what my Dr's think?

So anyway, I've probably written too much unrelated info and not enough PC related info here so I'll blame it on lack of sleep, too little coffee and pain pills for my hip pain! (After 5 days in the hospital and 11 days in a inpatient rehab facility, I'm still in outpatient therapy 3 times a week for the next month> Ouch!) So if any of You have any questions about me or my history I can help with I'll check back and would be honored to. Bless You All!

Pete

Sorry to hear about your other issues Pete, but glad to hear about the 0! My brother-inlaw had hip replacement and says he wished he had done it 10 years sooner. Hope you have the same result!

Pete,
All the best with your hip replacement recovery AND a big fat zero still – now that calls for a celebration.
Stay well.

Zero PSA after TEN years! Now THAT is something to be happy about!

Thanks for letting of us know that it can be done, and it sets a worthy goal for the rest of us to shoot for!

Pete, great 10 year update, that should give some hope to some of our new folks here.

Sorry about your other surgery issues and your back, but as you said, that has nothing to do with the PC side of your life.

Hope you keep going and going on those zero reports.

My best to you

Pete,

Thanks for coming out of the woodwork to give us this happy news. Ten years is a long time to be cancer free, and is especially inspiring to men and their loved ones here who are newly diagnosed or early in their recovery process. All the best......Tim

Thanks everyone for yer kind replies! It's hard to believe that it's ben 10 years already! I had to reschedule my 6mo. Uro apt. as I was in rehab when my apt. date came. I believe it's in a week or two so I'd better get moving and get my blood test done at least a week before! I must say it doesn't bother me much anymore but there is always a tiny bit of anxiety  estwhile I'm sitting in the waiting room to see my Doc. I guess it doesn't matter how many zeros ya get> That queasy feeling no matter how small is always there!

My Uro. is a cool guy and even tho every one in a while he still gives me the old "Cold Finger Test". By now I've had so many it's kinda like shaking hands anymore! I'm sure he could just say> Screw it and not do the test since I've been clean so long but I know he's just being a good Doc!

He also always gives me a handful of what ever "ED" sample meds he may have in the sample closet to which I'm most grateful cause we all know how much they cost!!! Even tho my wife and I haven't had any intercourse in a long time due to my back problems> (Yes it's that bad!) It's still a wonderful feeling to get erections at will! As far as orgazms, I've become a full blown urine ejaculator which wasn't the case back when I used to post here years ago! That makes oral sex kinda risky as some of you who have this problem are well aware of! So my sex life is pretty much on hold (that's me doing the holding!) for now until I can figure out what to do about my back problems? I'm not a big fan of surgery and I've hears many stories for and against it. My biggest reason for saying nay for so long is I had a cervical fusion done down in Jackson Memorial in Miami about 6 years ago. My left arm and hand were getting to the point where I couldn't feel much and moving it was getting to be a chore. So it was either have the surgery or loose the use of my left arm! Well I went to hell and back w/ that surgery and even tho I regained the use of my left arm and hand, I only retained about 30% feeling in my hand and lost 50% of the feeling in my right hand! Also the neck pain went pretty much unchanged. It's for that reason I'm not a big fan of spinal surgery!

Well friends, I don't know how I've gotten so far off track and I'm sorry! Like I wrote yesterday, if anyone has any questions for me, I'd be glad to try to answer them for You!! So I'd better get to the hip exercises and outa cyberland!

Your Friend> Pete

Pete,
Great news on the 10 years of Zeros.

Can you say CURED? Oops, I don't think we can use that word here.

Any way I am happy for you and hope you Heal Well after your recent surgery.

Don't stay away that long, others here need to hear these success stories from some of our Founding Fathers of HW PCa.
