Some say Chiros and some say avoid them at all cost. I started going a few years ago when my wife did, as part of a family plan she signed us up for, but it was my wife who got us going. She still goes, but has not got all that much help. For me, OTOH, it was near miraculous. My 40 years of neck problems were much better in a couple of days and zero problems within a few weeks and has stayed that way for several years(I go once a week). I couldn't tell that anything else was really helped or hurt, until I got him to use his "cold laser" on my feet, plantar fasciitis. It took about
6 three minute treatments, but for the first time in several years I stopped limping and was able to start hiking miles with a pack without being miserable. And no more nearly falling down when I get out of bed in the morning or after a long car ride. Many months, nearly a year, later and not a peep out of my feet. Prior to that I had seen numerous Podiatrists over many years and spent many hundreds on various custom orthotics and even Decadron shots in my feet and custom shoes with no significant improvement. Two weeks of cold laser and I have a new set of feet. ( once again, cold laser did not help my wife's back much)
Now if you are up for something really radical and controversial, go to the health food store( or internet) and get some DMSO. It will say on the label of the roll on bottle not to let it contact your body! But I have found it to be amazing sometimes on some aches, at least helpful on almost every ache or pain. In fact, I am about
to apply some to my hip which has hurt me for years when I sleep on my side, old ski injuries. I don't like to take Naproxen every night. Every one I know who has used it says it helps from a little to a whole lot, varying according to what you use it for. It is of course banned by the FDA for any sort of medicinal use, and yet it is sold in roll on bottles. You will know quickly if it is any good for you, it will either help the pain or it won't and you will be out $15 or $20.
If you decide to try it, I suggest you read up on it first. Check out the Mike Wallace interviews on 60 mins back in the 1970s: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL557FE6FD0033B580
Sometimes it burns or irritates depending on the body part, I fix that by dabbing water on or diluting it more to start with. It also seems to help( to avoid irritation) to gently rub it in until it is absorbed, rather than just letting it dry on your skin. Do NOT put it under a bandage or clothing when wet. Some body parts it never burns at all, just carefully experiment, and be careful, start slow. Obviously I am not your doctor, and I doubt you will find a Dr. to recommend this to you. Free advice might be worth exactly what you pay for it. But it has helped me a whole lot either with symptoms or occasionally even curing a pain or two. And I have not talked to anyone who tried it and said it didn't help. And that even included my wife, who the Chiros or cold laser did not help very much. Get it while you can, it disappeared for a lot of years, I'm amazed we can get it again so easily.
(extra caution: I have no idea if applying it to a pain caused by PC mets might be harmful, or not)
Hopefully, neither my Chiro's cold laser nor DMSO gave me prostate cancer! And I wish it would work as well on PC as it seems to on my hip and knee.
