I just walked into the house from my Month 2 on the Lupron/TAK700 clinical trial visit with my Onco. And just before I pulled into the drive the trial coordinator called to tell me my PSA was 9.7.

Beginning PSA was 92.5 and at the end of month one it was 20.8.

So my wife and I are doing happy dances and a weekend celebration is in the planning.

For those that may one day follow with the use of these drugs, I can report the following from two months on the drugs:

I have not gained any weight and in fact am down about 6-8 pounds. Lots of exercise getting ready for GFMPH and just living life fully is the contributor I think.

I have not had any daytime Hot Flashes and have experienced only a few night feelings of warmth.

I have had issues with sleeping. I have many dreams throughout the night and awakenings. It seems as though I spend the entire night in the REM state. But I saw my Internist this week and am trying some new med to take care of that.

I am getting up to pee most nights about 2 to 3 times.

I think the noticing of the urge and the night time warmth may be because I wake up and am therefore cognizant of the feelings. I do not think for the most part that these things wake me from sleep.

As of yesterday, I still have a strong libido and full functionality. Nough said there, you get it I am sure.

And now I am stepping away from the computer for a while unless there are new developments. For years I have said to those in angst over Pca, to give it the due diligence it deserves when it is required and the rest of the time put it on the back burner and go live life.

For the last two months I have failed to heed my own advice. I come to HW many times throughout the day and read everything that has the slightest hint of dealing with HT. I seem to be waiting for the other shoe to fall and question everything I may feel or experience.

So my next appointment is May 19th to see my Onco and get shot 2 of Lupron. I will report my updates then.

Until then I will be out in the boat, traveling in the RV, swimming in the pool and just choking the hell out of life in Every Bonus Day I am given.

My email is active and any of you can feel free to contact me, but I won’t be reading or posting much on HW. I will check in on this thread from time to time to answer any questions that may be asked.

I have to go now, I have fish to fry.

Sonny

Sonny, everything sounds absolutely great! Congratulations! From your listing of SE's does that mean we cannot call you Sonya?

Tony, according to the trial protocol, they do not measure my T levels until month 7. I see the Onco for monthly follow ups and blood work the first four months and then not until month 7, when I will be receiving my 3rd Lupron shot.

Tall, thanks brother and I will be "going away very shortly".

Tud, I have kinda gotten use to the Sonya tag, so feel free. I know that we here at HW represent only a very small % portion of the Pca folks. When I reported to my Onco no hot flashes yet, his response surprised me. He said that in his experience only about 50% of the guys experience them. Sure hope I am in that group.

Good for you, Sonny! I hope your hot flashes stay minimal or go away. I'm in the other 50%, but it's ok, they're reminders that my HT is effective.

My mantra now is "I'm ok until I'm not ok." Until some test says there's a problem, there isn't a problem. Fuggedaboudit!

Enjoy your break; you deserve it! We'll be in touch again along the way...

Sonny,

That is awesome...keep on truckin...or boatin...or fishin....or xxxin...love your 'living large' ways...

Refresh my memory...do you know if your are on the TAK?

I'm surprised that they don't check your T more often...seems important to make sure the Lupron is getting it to the proper level...they took your T level before therapy, correct?

Again...Congrats...Hope to meet you some day...

Thank you one and all for your GREAT words and continuing support.

Jerry, yes they took T levels before I began the drugs and yes I am on the TAK700 drug. Since they don't check the T levels until the 7th month (which is when I get the 3rd Lupron shot) they must think it takes at least 6 months to really get an accurate read on how well the combination is working.

James C., if my post made your week it must have been a really slow one around your parts. Best to you wit the radiation.

Bill thanks for the kind words.

And now folks I am going to bed and sleep the sleep of the happy for the moment.

So I will be signing off, putting Pca in the closet and just living life as large as I can.

Will update if something major is worth writing about. If not I will be back at the end of month 3.

To the rest of you, take a break from Pca once in a while if you can and go smell the roses,

Great report, Sonny, couldn't be happier for you. Great decrease going on in your PSA. Hope it continues so well for you, for years to come.
