Wow, it has been 3 months already that I have been on HT. Time flies when you’re having fun I guess.

For those that may not know, I am in the S1216 Clinical Trial which measures the efficacy of Lupron/Casodex against Lupron/TAK700. I am in the Lupron/TAK700 arm of the trial.

I met with my Oncologist yesterday and my new PSA number is 8.0. I started this thing 3 months ago to the day and my PSA has dropped from 92.5 to 20.4 to 9.7 and now 8.0. I also received my next 3 month Lupron shot yesterday.

As part of the trial, I do not see my Oncologist for the next 3 months. At that time we will run a Dexa Scan, testosterone test and a few other goodies. It will also be time for my next shot. Although I am not due for any blood work until then, I did tell the PA to expect that I will be calling for them to run PSA tests.

As far as side effects, I feel that I am cruising along fairly well. I have had no weight gain. My energy level appears to be pretty much the same. In fact I umpired two softball games last night and was on the field for about 5 hours. I am scheduled for double headers for the next 7 days.

Mentally I feel the same so far. I have taken up Sudoku puzzles as someone here at HT suggested and have a fairly easy time with the more advanced puzzles.

There are two things that have changed since my last report, B12 levels and blood pressure. I had my B12 levels checked (thinking energy and fatigue here) and found that my normal level was on the low end and barely in the normal range. My internist put me on B12 injections. I have had one a week for 4 weeks and now will be on a once a month schedule.

I also brought it to the attention of my Oncologist that my blood pressure seemed to be up over the last few months. I normally run about 120 over 60 and my current tests were running in the 140s over low 90s. I went on a very small dosage blood pressure med about a month ago and yesterday my reading was 131 over 69. Much better in my estimation.

Okay, now let’s talk Hot Flashes. Been really lucky with this one. I do awake during the night sometimes feeling warm. I just throw the covers off and go back to sleep. Sometime later I awake a little chilly and put the covers back on. As far as I know I have not had any daytime Hot Flashes. I am very active and I live in Florida, I sweat when I am working outside, but I don’t think it is flashes.

I don’t think that there is much else that is noteworthy to report. I am just living life large and enjoying the hell out of every day. I still very much believe that “Every Day is A Bonus”. And I continue to strive to choke the life out of every one of them.

Robert and Michael thanks.

I forgot to add that I had a conversation with the Onco about bone issues from HT and he told me to pick up Caltrate + D (600mg) and take 2 per day. Then in August we will run the Dexa scan and see if anything else is warranted.

Stay well Sonny.
I'll be with the research team next week as we announce the S1216 trial at ASCO. There won't be any reported data from the trial but the trial will be presented and a poster board up where we will greet and explain the trial. Thanks again for your participation. And to all who have participated.

Glad things are going well for you Sonny. I don't know how you have the energy for those double headers.

Having watched you at the GFMPH FL., you never sat still for more than 10 minutes so you must have an amazing amount of energy.

Good luck in the coming months.

Smooth sailing, my friend, good to hear it's been uneventful, so far. 23 down, 14 to go here, also fairly uneventful also.

Sonny.....and Sherry,

I think this is a great report.   You are making wonderful progress.   More success is on the way.

 .

My experience with the hot flashes....three and one half years worth........is that the more active you are the less the severity and frequency of the flashes.    Sit around and watch TV and they will overwhelm you,,,,,, get out and be active and you won't experience them.

Thanks again for your superb hospitality, I can't wait to see you again,

Jack

Sonny,
I'm really happy with the progress that you have made with minimal SE's. Have a great summer!

Hi Sonny what an awesome report. I am so happy to see that tak-700 is working so well for you. I am looking forward to meeting you in the fall. Tomorrow night I'll be sure and have an extra glass of wine in a toast to you. Todd
