Hankb00 said...Welcome to the forum, Hank. Sorry you need to be here but glad you found us.
My name is Hank and, sadly, I have now joined the world of recurrent prostate cancer. I am scheduled for salvage radiation in a few weeks and I was exploring gold fiducials (and everything else!) as a way to better target the prostate bed when I came across this forum. The hospital where I will be treated (I'm not sure of the rules about naming specific institutions or doctors) does not use fiducials in salvage radiation, but I noticed that several posts mention having used fiducials. So, if you received radiation after cancer reoccurrence can you let me know if fiducials were used and if you believe it was helpful? Thank you.
I don't know the answer to your questions. My adjuvant radiation after my prostatectomy was done on an IMRT machine that used ultrasound imaging to line up the patient before each session. I know a lot of guys are getting the markers implanted before radiation as a primary treatment. I'm not sure how useful they are for salvage treatment.
But I'm just the guy who says hello. The guys who know stuff will be along directly.
