sorry to keep many waiting
first chance to sit here long enough to type.
had surgery yesterday, surgery was 3 hours behind schedule, which was tough on me, surgery took 2 1/2 hours, surgeon said it was one of the more complex oral surgeries possible. all went well from a technical point.
good thing we had hotel room, would have never made the trip home last night. was one of the toughest surgeries I have ever been through. ttok 3 time to get iv in, nurse hit bones the first two time, I cussed her out and I was actually in tears from the pain. the anethieologist took over and got it in first time, other arm, but very painfully.
whtever they gave me to pre-knocked me out worked, because last thing I remember was being wheeled don a long hall toward the OR.
had tough time in recovery room, was pain level 9 plus. when we went to hotel, thye provide wheel chair, good thing as I couldn't really walk on my own, and were on 8th floor. never slept at all last night, first 12 hours were like being in hell, literally. so much bleeding, and when the numbing wore off, never hurt so bad in my life. it was really rough, especially in my weakened condition from weight loss. btw, lost 4 lbs from the night before surgery till we got home.
took 2 1/2 hours for wife to drive me home, every bump was a killer, got into heavy traffic and torrential rains which didn't help. but was so good to be back home in my own bed.
today some pain has backed off, perhaps 6-8. aside from my normal pain meds, he put me on oxy for break through, but gave me serious overdose warnings, so only using it as needed. don't want to wake up dead after going through all this.
I see him again in 2 weeks, but have to start the hyperbaric again this Monday for 10 days. don't know how I am going to even do that at this point. he said by sunday, my face may swell to size of basket ball, so be prepared. then the swelling and some pain should go down.
due to my circumstances, said the 4 to 5 months recovery may go to 6 months, has to make sure gums heal properly and reach max. shrunken size befor they could think about fitting dentures. so this will be long process.
going to lay back down now, only had a total of 2 hours sleep now in past 48 hours, wish I could just pas s out cold.
will report back when I feel a bit better and not so much in severe pain. least on the "other side", hopefully, I will slowly get better. oh, in the end, he said there were 87 stitches. that's a lot
