This news paper article was published in 2012 regarding trials for a new treatment for PC

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/9206425/New-treatment-for-prostate-cancer-gives-perfect-results-for-nine-in-ten-men-research.html

No radiation, drugs or side effects! Also it sounds simple quick and inexpensive.

Sounds to good to be true. Does anybody know more?

Casper, we have had a number of threads on this subject so I would recommend you go back and read them. My recollection of the bottom line was:

1. This is not an FDA approved procedure for the US.

2. Studies have not borne out superior results in terms of cure or SE's.

3. There has been some fairly negative US press recently; SF Chronicle as I recall.

Thanks Jim. I did not realise that. I will go search out those old threads. I thought that it sounded to good to be true. If it was then the big drug companies would not like it, or the ones that build all the radiation machinery. In fact I think it would put a spanner in the works all round, including doctors. They would all lose money if there was a simple quick and cheap treatment like this available. The only guys that would benefit is us. Oh well.....

I have not been that active here of late, because I am preparing myself for my important hospital meetings on Monday and Tuesday. Getting myself in the zone and writing my list of questions.

Sorry to waste board space. Please feel free to delete this thread. It wont offend me.

I was told by the RO I met with yestrday that HIFU is approved in the US but only for treatment of advanced cancer.

HI PMan. Thanks for that bit of info. I have already decided to add it to my list of questions for next week.

The fowling article is a summary of all the available data on HIFU.

http://prostate-cancer.org/PDFs/Is14-2_p3-11.pdf

The reoccurrance rates are the highest of all other conventional treatments by a long shot and the reoccurrance rates rise over time compared to lower reoccurrance rates over time for all other treatments.
There is a good reason that HIFU has been suspended as a first line treatment in Japan and some European countries.

If it's focal treatment that interests you, there's also focal laser: http://www.utmbhealth.com/oth/Page.asp?Pageid=OTH001162

Thanks John T. That pretty much answers all my questions. That link was very helpful.

SUPER MAX.

I am not really looking beyond conventional treatments, just that this caught my interest. In my case I am still looking towards the seed option.
