Pat, I'm not sure we've "met" before, I came in last December. I, too, have significant family history back for generations. Most of the published stuff I've seen suggests that every time you add a next-in-line (father, brother, son) relative, that lowers the baseline age from 50. Personally, I started PSA at 40, and I'm glad I did. I had 12 years of zeros followed by increases 4 years in a row, then a G6 diagnosis, surgery, and a G7 final report.
I don't recall seeing anything in the literature that recommends going below 40 for initial PSA unless there are symptoms of a problem.
