Hi all:

It has been a while but I am still around and 8+ months into this journey, I am still undetectable while on Firmagon and 50mg daily dose of Casodex.

I generally feel well with the exception of HDT fatigue and minor hot flashes which I barely notice. The monthly dose of Firmagon and the injection site pain for a couple days afterwards sucks but the alternative is worse. I am tempted to go on a once every 3 month dose of Lupron next dosage due date in September and wonder what some of you may think of this after having great success on Firmagon.

My Doc tells me that Lupron does the same thing but he will leave the decision up to me.

Hope you are well

I am 2 & 1/2 years out on ADT chemo. Used 30 day Firmagon for the first 3 months (no testosterone flare) then switched to 6 month shot of Lupron followed by 6 month shots of Eligard. Last 1 was last Oct but it was still effective a couple of weeks ago blood draw. No T no PSA since Jan 2012. (undetectable) Got side effects, but I have gotten those from the surgery and radiation too. It is all tolerable, however, especially considering the chance of a "cure".
64 yo, 2012 PSA 11, "bump" with DRE, biopsy 11/12 12/12 cores with acinar adenocarcinoma, Da Vinci RP 12/27/2012. 35 gram tumor, 2 EC ext., 1 sem. ves. + marg T3c N0 M0, G7(4+3). 2 week post-RP PSA 0.2, started Firmagon ADT, catheter removed. Pads for 3 months, then done. 3 months post-op EBRT prostate bed and interior pelvic lymph nodes ~ 80 Gy/40 ses. Last Eligard 10/12, therapy ended 4/30/2015

I received a six month injection of Lupron three weeks ago and had no issues around the injection site (left cheek) but have minor hot flashes, some tiredness later in the day, very minor depression at times (which I attribute to the drug - I'm usually a very upbeat guy.)

geop,
That is great news, You appear to be doing excellent on the Firmagon. I will be following you online because you also have mets, as I do. Could I ask where you are being treated at and what area of the country do you live in? Take care and keep the faith,
