BF needs to get supplement F,
open enrollment now, will not kick in till Jan 1.
My understanding is that most major proton sites will be paid 100% by medicare and F, excluding housing and transport.
ETAA for clarity. Medicare and F appear to be like a "gold" card that will pay for all treatment at major medical centers. If that is different I would love to know.
posting links to prostate sites.
Search for yananow, they have a section where people have posted their results, issues and happiness by method of treatment. It is _not_ a scientific selection, by any means.
There are certainly a lot of happy people from proton, some of whom post here.
As near as I can tell, cure results are about
the same. Proton supporters say it's the side effects that are where it's beneficial.
No studies indicate any cure benefits, if there are studies pro/con side effects I am unaware.
IMHO, it is a viable option ( for qualified types of patients) particularly if there are no out of pocket hospital costs.
Note: you are new here, I am new also and have not been diagnosed. Others more knowledgeable will chime in.
ETA - I have researched ad nauseum also. IMO, HDR Brachy should considered along with SBRT. We all have different preferences, situations and concerns. There is no one treatment, only the one that is suitable to you after consideration of various factors. How the areas of cancer are located, concentration, possible aggressiveness, etc will also play into the correct decision for you.
