My poor dad has been on a roller coaster ride. Since last hospitalization and transfusion he has been very slow to get back to what ever normal is these days. Yesterday we went for a walk = a slow shuffle, but he had a pretty good day. Forcing food down he barely ate today. Is so compliant and drank 2 ensure beverages. He is not in pain (on slow release morphine) and cant describe the sensations in his stomach... he cant find words but just says if that happens again he wont be able to get thru it... he didnt call me when this happened = but he told me tonight when I came for a second visit. He said he thinks he may need to call 911 next time... any idea what is happening... he is chilled, (no fever), and very weak... Hgb at 95 ... help please...

Is he on any medications for stomach pain? Does he have nausea?
My DH' s weak link is his stomach, mostly no appetite, reflux and nausea. Zofran works the best when all else fails. I didn't see a profile in your post. What is happening with Mets and PSA?

Hello !

Just a note of care and concern for you and for your father's well-being.

When I read your message, I just wanted to let you know that others here are thinking about you.

I hope that your father has an expert medical team there, devoted to his care and well-being.

Sending my care and concern for you and your father from across the miles today ...

Thoughts and prayers,
Iowa State "Cyclone"

I am thinking a call to his doctors would be in order. This is stuff beyond what I know about. Don't think a 911 call would be out of line if it got worse. A hospital might might be the best place if it gets worse.

Pain meds mess with the stomach and intestines so I can see why your dad is having troubles. The suggestion to call his doctor is a good one, if you haven't done so already. I know you want the best for your dad, Marie, I hope his situation improves quickly. Don't lose hope. Thinking of you, Susan

Hey Susan, nice to see you again.

I've had some blockages and I sympathize with anyone who does. Had diverticulitis twice but that pain is different. It is really frustrating to have a condition like this again and again and not be able to get a definite diagnosis. Guess that's why they call it practicing medicine.

Good luck,

Jim
