Once again, I do not see any new histological definitions, other than the disastrous one of returning to reporting scores of 2-5 within Grade Group 1. If there are any, what are they?
Earlier in the thread I think I posted a link to the article Dr Epstein wrote for the AUA News which includes written histological definitions of the new grading system, suitable for the audience. Keep in mind that the AUA is made up of urologists, not pathologists. Check it out.
I usually don't check-in here nights or weekends...got other things to do. But I had to see whether any interesting comments had been raised. I think the polarization here is interesting — I give strong “bravo” to the new system, while you (Tall Allen) claim it’s a “disaster” – but it’s not the first time I’ve seen similar polar opposite positioning here at HW/PC.
It’s no surprise that there is no “voice” for men’s health issues such as prostate cancer. Men can’t agree on mass, population screening versus “smart” PSA testing, or Active Surveillance versus the prostate snatcher’s view of “get-it-out-now.” We've even seen one of our members characterize the travesty of prostate cancer overtreatment of low risk men as "overtreatment, smovertreatment." Interesting, but sad.
