Well, I survived my first EBRT, VMAT format. I got there an hour and a half early. Sitting in the waiting area was a guy I recognized from my support group. I only saw him once but remembered him so I went and sat next to him and introduced myself. He's an older than me guy. He's not as much into the science of his PC or treatments much, but I was able to get out of the conversation that he is on the same triple play plan as I am, albeit he is 1 week ahead of me. In talking about SE's and all, we are both having the same experience so far, which really, is not much to report beyond hot flashes.
Anyways after about 15 minutes, a therapist named Tim came out to get me and took me into a room to go over everything with me.
Then, into a changing room, and sit to drink a bottle of water.
5 minutes later, it was into Room 10 and onto the slab.
They did a scan to line me up properly and check to make sure my bladder was bloated to their satisfaction, and that the lower bowel has empty and displaced by the poor bloated bladder.
He came in after the scan and said I was 80% full! and that was my perfect positioning.
Then, they left the room, turned up the music per my request, and nuc'd me. All in all, the entire in-room event was about 15 to 20 minutes with the dosage delivered in 1 full clockwise rotation and about a 30% return counter clockwise rotation. about 4 minutes by my estimation.
Left the room, got dressed, had a whiz, and headed over to the parking guy to get a parking pass to save some $ over the next 5 weeks.
Then, into rush hour traffic. about 10 minutes before I got to my exit....I really needed to whiz again. Fortunately, I was able to hold it.
Had a big supper of herb grilled chicken, Persian potatoes, a teeny panini, and a glass off milk.
Then, off to the driving range for a large bucket. I promised myself I would golf every day I had RT so that I could prove PCa was an inconvenience and not a life sentence.
Anyways...a loooong update for something that pales in comparison to some off the issues brothers are experiencing in here today.
Michael....thanks for reading and contributing. Much appreciated.
