I am going in for my 2nd Taxotere treatment tomorrow. I feel bad posting about
my journey thus far because there are others here who are going through the same treatment who are having a much worse time of it with SEs.
I can only hope that the rest of my journey goes as smoothly as the last 3 weeks between treatments.
In preparation for hair loss, I had my head buzzed by some fellow cancer buddies that were visiting my home. And true to form my hair started falling out at about
day 15. So today I went to the barber shop and had my head shaved with a straight razor. Now there is no more worry about
loose hairs on my clothing and in my hats.
BUT, the hair loss is the only side effect I have encountered so far. I have no issues with nausea, mouth sores, neuropathy, appetitie, etc. None whatsoever!
So far this has just been like every other treatment I have had due to Pca. Surgery produced no incontinence and I almost fully recovered from ED issues at about
SRT has to date produced no issues. Nor has the breast bud radiation I had done prior to Lupron caused any issues. My first year on Lupron (2014) passed with only mild irritations as far as SEs go. And so far this year with Lupron I am not really seeing enough issues to worry or write about
The only thing I have experienced with all of my treatments is the fact that I can't get rid of the farkin' cancer. I started this journey in June 2009 and with minor exception I am still able to live a life full of enjoyment of each "Bonus Day" I am given.
In fact my wife and I just arrived home yesterday from a 10 day trip with the truck and boat to Lake Cumberland, KY. We decided on the spur of the moment that since I was feeling so good, we should just get out of town and have some fun. It was a wonderful trip except that we pretty much got skunked on the fishing.
I may be jinxing myself, but I can only hope that the next five treatments will be as kind to me.
Just thought I would update for those that may follow this treatment at some point.
