The office I'm using is "urologic oncology", but this Dr. is an MO. Maybe I should set up another appointment with an RO just to cover the bases. I haven't seen one since I moved to this state.
Tall Allen, you raise a great point. He's new to my case, and he may possibly have misunderstood that radiation was my primary therapy. It seems unlikely since that would be a colossal oversight, though it's possible. He had definitely read the file, knew where I'd been treated and so on. But I didn't consider that maybe he thought we were post salvage-radiation, which would certainly trigger concern. Dr. Hussain was much more conversational in her approach.
He did specifically say the 2.0 was the "Phoenix study" or some such, so we were talking about
post-radiation treatment. Hmm...
Thanks for responding; you're one of the most up-to-date folks I know on studies, and that was rather specifically what I was wondering about
. In lots of reading, I've found that there are different opinions about
the nadir+2 criterion and apparently some doctors will act much earlier. As you say though, maybe that's just a lot of overtreatment. I'm not keen to spend thousands on analysis that won't be useful.
I think I'm going to wait 2 weeks for the PSA re-test, as is recommended in several studies I've found. Then, we'll see from there. The wild card is what I'm really looking at with a 0.2, given that my case is all G9 with its low PSA/volume output. If it stays there, or even goes up a little and stabilizes, then I'm not worried about
The C11 PET studies seem to indicate they won't even find things with a PSA < 0.5 or so. It doesn't seem prudent to run to Dr. Kwon at a 0.2.
