.last night I was interviewed by men's health magazine. There are doing a story on prostate cancer and after consulting the experts the felt the story needed a patient perspective. The interview lasted aproximately an hour and a half. We discussed my story and blog, screening protocol, new and upcoming treatments, the Catch-22 between over treatment and late stage diagnosis, and the need for a test to distinguish between aggressive and non-aggressive cancer. He asked if he could quote my blog and made me feel good about my writing ability. The article will be published by early spring. It was a good interview.

I cannot post something good that happened to me when others are dealing with sadness and heartbreak.

I disagree, much of your success is encouragement to some of us.

Last night I deleted my post because it lacked substance. I did not have time to fix it until this morning. There were other reason to pull it down as mentioned above. Todd

Todd,

OF COURSE you can post good things that happen, even when other are dealing with sadness and heartbreak. Other will always be dealing with sadness and heartbreak. Happy news makes dealing with the ugly stuff a little easier. It's always good to hear about the triumphs of others!

Hi Mark actually I think it's way cooler to get famous for something you create but that's just my opinion. I hope you do get famous for your art. If you do then you have to sell me something with your signature on it

Nothing wrong with being asked to share your experiences. Nothing wrong with telling us that it happened.

I wish there was a good story for every vent.

From one of your groupies, way to go brother Todd!!!
And hello, a lot of us feel we are kinda like a family here. Would you keep your successes from your family because they are still grieving the loss of your wonderful Dad? I enjoy hearing about your writing and I look forward to reading your blog, even though my DH isn't doing all that well lately. If you were a reality show, it would be WAY more interesting and educational than the others we see. (Now there's thought!!!)

Dear Todd,

Please share good news! We are a brotherhood and want an excuse to calibrate happy tidings! That does not take away from our concern for others that are hurting. Instead (at least for me) it helps me keep going.

Todd –

In this thread from last March:

www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=35&m=3605897

you asked:

"I have persevered in my fight against the beast. The fight goes on. For now there is peace. The beast is quiet. Again!!! Why? What is it that allows one to do well and another to fall? The answer eludes me."

At that time my response to you was:

"Todd, you wondered also in your post why you thought you were being spared while so many other fine men were being taken down by this disease. It's a question, in general, that mankind has been asking itself since the beginning of time. Why me? Or why not me?. It's a question that most of us here have probably asked ourselves at one time or another.

Well, maybe, just maybe, the reason why you are still here is just what I have been talking about, that your case is to be a source of inspiration and hope, for others to know and be inspired by. Your stats cry out to others: "See what this man has done, despite such poor prognosis? Well, perhaps you can do it too, regardless of how bad things may look!"

Perhaps that really is your destiny, why you are still here, to show others by the example of your case that there is indeed hope for them as well, and you are fulfilling that very destiny, just by being here."

My words were true then and they still are. Your purpose in life now, so I believe, is not to weld pieces of metal together, which you do just to get money for living in this world. No, your purpose now is to inspire and encourage others by your example of "roaring back" when things looked bleak. Your example of being down on the canvas, and the referee was saying "seven…eight...nine," and then you sprang up and dashed across the ring and started pounding the daylights out of the beast, who was likely stunned by your response. And you keep pounding away at him. Rocky Balboa's got nothing on you.

So at the times when it all seems confusing, and wearying, just remember: you're doing now what you were meant to do.

Todd,

I think that is what forums are for. The GOOD success of some and the not so good. Everyone is fighting a different fight.
I think that is what makes this forum so special because people can share their experiences.
I think we have to hear the good to stay hopeful.
I for one love reading your stories.
Thank you for sharing them.
