Once again I've been blessed with an undetectable PSA test. Eight years now after starting with a PSA near 28 and RP as the only form of treatment needed. I'm not sure what I've done to be so lucky, and here's hoping some of that luck goes out to my brothers here.

First rounds on me!

Cheers!

OMG I almost cried when I read this. Not a good look when sitting at my desk in an open plan office! With GG's PSA of over 20 before surgery, plus a very large tumour (G 4+3 / pT2c), I am terrified he will not get through this unscathed. We are almost at his 6 month post-op PSA test and nervous as all get-out. You are the very first person I have EVER heard about, who has been cured by surgery alone, with a PSA of greater than 20. This gives me some hope for my GG. Thank you so much for sharing. And CONGRATULATIONS - What an awesome success story. All the very best from sunny (today!) Melbourne. Jaybee

Thats great news!
I am awaiting my psa results. I try to relax, but as soon as they have the blood sample I am on pins and needles. I had my prostate removed 1 year ago next week (Robotic) at age 53. Was in both sides of prostate, 9 of 12 samples positive. My Gleason before and after was 6 (3+3). Lymph nodes were clean. First 3 ultra sensitive tests came back undetectable so far. Genetic test he did on prostate said I was at low risk of reoccurance. But I am always worried because he said I had "an open margin of less than 1 mm". I read on some sites that the risk of an open margin of less than 1 mm is about the same as no open margin at all. Not sure if its true. Anyone have some input to relax me?!
Tom

There's no reason to believe, and zero evidence of, that there has ever been, or, for that matter, will ever be, one human metastatic cell of anything in your body from the time you were born until the time of this writing. Nothing. It's just not there. (unless you've had, or now have, another kind of cancer you've not spoken of)

Hi! Could someone explain to me how this is possible?
Is the immune system working?

My doc guessed that it was a glitch in the test itself, machine calibration, bad reagent, or the operator. It gave me a scare, but the retest was back to undetectable.

Gunner59, Congratulations for yours PSA results.
You confirmed what I think about your February PSA.
I have never seen anybody with undetectable PSA during months or years and became detectable and after came back to undetectable.
In January, my uPSA became detectable. It is increasing, the value on august was 0.01.
My pathology report is good. I don't understand why it is happening too early, two years after RP.

Cancer affects people in different ways, so one never knows for sure. Certainly the skill of the surgeon plays a part but we may never know the real reason. So, lets enjoy your success!!!!
