I have encountered another term for prostate cancer that has become resistant to Luprolide chemotherapy, it is called "refractory".
Firmagon, Lupron and Eligard are all chemical mixtures that are injected into a cancer patients body with the goal of weakening or killing the cancer. That is the classical definition of "chemotherapy" so it is indeed on the first line of defense with prostate cancer as well as with other cancers. There are other Luprolide chemicals, but those are the ones I have personal experience with.
The Luprolides are the first nano-biotechnology licensed by the US FDA. The two complex chemical compounds are mixed together for a very specific amount of time (2 minutes dead on) then injected into muscle tissue where they shape into an ovoid and self-organize such that the outer skin is a layer of polyethylene glycol molecules which all present the same part of the molecule on the exterior of the ovoid. That part of the molecules makes your body surround the ovoid with water, which prevents your immune system from attacking it. Micro-pores are evenly scattered around the ovoids surface such that a measured amount of the Luprolide chemical is released through them into your blood stream on an ongoing basis. As the Luprolide is used up the ovoid shrinks.
As long as the cancer has not gone refractory, the Luprolide will stop it from progressing. At least, that is the plan.
The terms "hormone therapy, androgen deprivation therapy, chemical castration" etc are the goal
the doc is aiming for rather than the actuality of what is happening. The 'spoon full of sugar that makes the medicine go down". If they called it what it actually is, their fear is that more patients would be scared away from treatment and the doctors would make less money. (personal opinion there)
