Sidekick, let me hold out a hand of welcome to our club that none of us chose. It's a kick in the teeth, isn't it? It sounds like you're starting on the most important path: doing research to find the treatment that works for YOU.
I do have a few suggestions.
First, ask your uro to send your slides to Dr. Epstein's group at Johns Hopkins. All they do is prostate cancer slides. about
30% of the time, they disagree with the original diagnosis. The good news is, that after he takes a look, you'll KNOW what you're dealing with.
Based on what you said already, I'm guessing you're in the NYC area. There are lots of great PC teams in that area, and the best of the best are at Memorial Sloane Kettering (MSK). With your history, especially with the previous prostate issues, you might want to check them out.
Others will check in over the course of the day with more specific comments about
your options. Your case is unusual because of the previous green-light laser treatment. Perhaps one of the other guys will have better insight than I.
Regardless, welcome, we're here to share our stories with you, what we did, and how it came out. Hang in there, there is a positive outcome out there for you.
