That is a mechanical fix to the retention. Mechanical disruption of the prostate increases PSA. In fact, anything that disturbs prostate cells will increase serum PSA. To clarify just what serum PSA is - it is PSA protein, which is normally generated by healthy and cancerous and hyperplastic and inflamed prostate cells. Normally, PSA is only kept inside the prostate - the PSA of a biopsy sample of healthy cells, for example, would be astronomical. But when prostate cells -any prostate cells- are disrupted by any means, such as the mechanical forces of an orgasm, a rough bicycle ride, a catheter pushing through, inflammation, or hyperplasia - PSA is released into the bloodstream and serum PSA increases. Interestingly, the serum PSA increase from PC is thought to occur because tumors generate a very leaky blood supply, which gives the PSA a route out into the serum.
