I am so heartened by the thoughtful responses from all of you. I requested that my BX samples be sent to John Hopkins for re-analysis. Thank you all. I will keep posting.
And just remember, especially based on what you know so far, you are very unlikely to die from this disease no matter what you do. The bad news is you will still die, the good news is probably from something else! ;)
The main thing you have to deal with are you choices in treatment. And you have plenty of time to study all of the options and the pros and cons of the probable cure rates vs the possible side effects and which you think you can best live with. Consider all options with an
open mind. But the only thing is: you are likely to have to make that decision yourself. Just remember a surgeon makes his living by doing surgery, another doc by doing radiation therapy, and neither of them make a great living by doing nothing. It is not easy to get unbiased advice and all of the facts from a man who makes many, many thousands if you choose his treatment and makes nothing if you don't. Not saying it is impossible at all, but you can see where the possible biases might come from. So educate yourself, you certainly have time. Good luck to you with your search/research!
