The lower the GS, the better chance it's contained. I'd tend to just go with what you're doctor is saying for now. Even if there is sometime, your doc is right - there are plenty of treatments left and every reason to expect a good outcome and lots of life left to live.
Most likely just a bump in the road. Okay, big bump, but once you've gotten past it things will settle down again. Scary yes, there will be side effect and nasty things to do, but there is the other side waiting.
Just keep working it though and I suspect you'll come out just fine.
