Friday, one day before my birthday I begin month 138 of this amazing ride called stage IV PCa. I have been on Zytiga for 50 months now. It is my understanding that there are a handful of guys who have been on it longer.
My journey began on 06/06/06 with an ugly psa result, a Lupron shot and a prescript
ion for casadex. It also included a 1 year prognosis. There have been highs and lows laughter and tears but mostly there has been Living every day like tomorrow may never come. I became hormone refractory at year number 5. I fought for and won Provenge and I have been on Zytiga since September of 2013.
I have made wonderful lifelong friends. I have lost some of those same friends.
Today I saw my oncologist. Labs were drawn, nurse ratchet got out her dull turkey baster and filled my left butt cheek with Lupron, and I got myZometa infusion. All done in one tidy little visit. All my Lab tests came back as field goals. All that is left is the dreaded psa. I believe it will remain unchanged. Stage IV prostate cancer is becoming a chronic disease. I would love to not have cancer but I sure love my life. Todd
